Olli-Pekka Rantala to become Director-General of the Ministry of Transport and Communication’s Services Department

On 19 May 2016, the Government appointed Master of Social Sciences Olli-Pekka Rantala (born 1974) as Director-General of the Ministry of Transport and Communication's Services Department. Mr Rantala's term of office will commence on 1 September 2016 and end on 31 August 2021.

Olli-Pekka Rantala has served as Director-General of the Ministry's Data Department since 1 January 2016. Before this, he has worked as Unit Director in three different units within the Communications Policy Department. He has also worked as Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels.

The position of Director-General for the Services Department became open when the current Director-General Minna Kivimäki was chosen to be Finland's Coreper 1 representative as of 1 September 2016.
