Finland proposes to European Commission that documents on Sanoma’s complaint concerning YLE be published
Finland proposes to the European Commission that the documents on Sanoma Media Finland’s complaint concerning the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE be published. Finland’s letter to the Commission states that making the complaint documents public be in the interest of the general public. The letter refers to the importance of transparency for public debate. Due to EU legislation, correspondence with the Commission is, in principle, confidential.
The complaint submitted by Sanoma Media Finland Oy to the EU Commission concerns, in particular, the video-on-demand services and electronic learning content of YLE. YLE currently produces video-on-demand services and provides them in Yle Areena. In the complainant’s view, the services do not comply with EU state aid legislation.
