The ITS Europe conference will be organised in Helsinki in 2014. The conference brings together leading ITS experts in Europe and presents the latest technologies in the field. Businesses combining information technology and transport logistics will also take part in the conference.

Finland has been active in promoting new transport policy thinking. In April 2010 the Government issued a resolution on a strategy for intelligent transport which brings intelligent transport to the centre of transport policy.

The purpose of the Helsinki conference is to present projects outlined in the National Strategy for Intelligent Transport that in 2014 could be part of our everyday life. These could include advanced information and ticket systems for public transport and different kinds of automatic systems providing information on accidents.

Intelligent transport systems (ITS) aim at increasing traffic safety, improving the efficiency of transport and slowing down climate change.
