Minister Berner to Japan and South Korea

Minister of Transport and Communications Anne Berner will visit Japan and South Korea on 14-18 November 2016. In Japan, she will be accompanied by a business delegation put together by Finpro. Cities to be visited during the trip are Tokyo, Nagoya and Seoul.

The cross-cutting theme of the visit is the digitalisation of transport. The aim is to market Finnish expertise in automated transport systems and promote Finnish-Japanese cooperation in automated driving and related testing. Also on the agenda are exports of the Finnish marine cluster, cooperation in the Arctic sea areas and expertise in unmanned shipping.

Minister Berner will meet Japan's Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Sanae Takaichi, Minister in charge of Ocean Policy and Territorial Issues Jun Matsumoto and Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Keiichi Ishii.

In South Korea, Minister Berner will visit the Ministries of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Science, ICT and Future Planning.

She will speak at a seminar in Tokyo arranged by the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) of Japan. The seminar will focus on connected and automated driving systems. Minister Berner will also speak at an event that discusses cooperation between Finland and Japan in the fields of shipping and arctic regions.

She will meet representatives of technology companies and of Keidanren, Japan Business Federation.
