Mr Samuli Haapasalo appointed as Director General of the Finnish Civil Aviation Administration

On 22 June 2005 the Government of Finland appointed Mr Samuli Haapasalo (52), Master of Laws, as Director General of the Finnish Civil Aviation Administration (FCAA). He will take up the post on 1 July.

Mr Haapasalo has worked as Director-General of the Department of General Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and Communications since 2000. He has been employed at the Ministry since 1986.

The FCAA, which is subject to the Ministry, maintains Finland's network of airports and provides air navigation services. It is a commercial enterprise financed by its users, and it determines its operations, financing and investments independently. Its general operational and performance targets are set by the Government.
