Ms Anne Berner to be Minister of Transport and Communications

Ms Anne Berner, Member of Parliament, has been appointed Finland's Minister of Transport and Communications. The President of the Republic announced the appointment on 29 May.

The Minister is the head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and handles matters covered by it. The Minister is also responsible for matters related to the autonomy of the Åland Islands that fall within the mandate of the Ministry of Justice.

Ms Berner (51) is a first-term MP and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration.

She has worked at Vallila Interiors, a family business, since 1986. Ms Berner was elected to Parliament in the electoral district of Uusimaa as an independent candidate of the Centre Party.
