Olli-Pekka Rantala appointed as Director General of Ministerial Governance Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications

On 30 June 2022, the Government appointed Olli-Pekka Rantala (born in 1974), Master of Social Sciences, as Director General of the Ministerial Governance Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communication. His term of office will be from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2027.

Rantala has worked as Director General of the Ministry's Services Department since September 2016. Prior to that, he served as Director General of the Ministry's Data Department and as Unit Director in three different units at the Ministry's Communications Policy Department. He has also worked as Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels.

The Director General is a member of the Ministry's management groups and is responsible for the management and effective operations of the department.

There are five units in the Ministerial Governance Department responsible for the performance guidance of the administrative branch, for statute drafting and impact assessment, and for matters related to research, preparedness, budget and general administration as well as human resources administration and development.
