Mr Pekka Plathan to be Director-General of the Administration Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications

The Finnish Government has appointed Mr Pekka Plathan Director-General of Administration Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Mr Plathan now works as the Director-General of the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

The Administration Department is responsible for the financial and operating planning for the Ministry's administrative sector, research coordination, security, general and personnel administration, and information management. The Department's duties also include guidance of unincorporated government enterprises within the Ministry's sector. As Director-General at the Ministry Mr Plathan will also contribute to projects related to climate change policy.

Mr Plathan (54) is a Master of Science, and has worked at the Meteorological Institute since 1979. Before his appointment as the Institute's Director-General, he was a Director responsible for the Institute's business operations.
