Susanna Niinivaara to continue as Communications Director at the Ministry of Transport and Communications

On 15 September 2022, the Government appointed Susanna Niinivaara as Communications Director of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for a fixed term from 9 October 2022 to 8 October 2027.

Susanna Niinivaara has been serving as Communications Director at the Ministry of Transport and Communications since October 2017. She came to that position from the Consulate General of Finland in Saint Petersburg where she served as press officer from 2013 to 2017. Niinivaara has also worked as journalist and consultant in the media agency Panther Media Limited (Pantterimedia Ky) and as journalist and correspondent for the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

The Communications Director is a member of the Ministry's management groups. She directs the Ministry's Communications Unit that is responsible for external and internal communications, stakeholder groups and web communications. She is also responsible for cooperation in communications issues with other ministries and the administrative branch.
