Minister of Communications Suvi Lindén will visit India to promote Finnish exports on 5-13 December. The purpose of her visit is an exchange of experiences between the countries regarding broadband network construction in particular, and to promote the networking of Finnish companies in India.

During her visit, Ms Lindén will meet the Indian Telecom Minister Kabil Sibal, Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma and the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot.

The Ministers will for example discuss frequency issues, the Finnish information society strategy and e-government.

According to Ms Lindén, the Finnish frequency policy has ensured that frequency ranges are available for research and product development. In a sparsely populated state, allocated frequencies are interference-free, which makes Finland an ideal country for research. Ms Lindén will also encourage Indian companies to make use of this opportunity.

In addition, Ms Lindén will take part in India Telecom 2010 conference to be held in Delhi and give an address in its concluding ceremony.

The delegation consisting of IT and electronic communication companies will be led by CEO Veli Holm from Smartphone Solutions Oy.
