LVM.fi is the website of the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications. It contains a variety of information produced by the Ministry, including press releases, publications and descriptions of ongoing projects. The website provides information in Finnish, Swedish, and English. The Finnish pages offer the widest range of information.

The new LVM.fi website was introduced on 25 January 2016 in connection with the launch of the Ministry’s new visual identity. The new structure is in line with the Government web communications standard.

1. Structure and usage

The site is made up of six main sections: press releases, areas of expertise, publications, the Ministry, the administrative sector, and contacts and services.

The breadcrumb trail at the top of each page shows where you are on the site. The footer on the page has a site map that describes the structure of the site using a list of the main headings and subheadings.

The search box at the top of each page helps you find the information you are looking for.

2. Web browsers and terminal devices

The website uses responsive design, meaning that the content adapts to the device being used. The pages display best using the latest version of your browser. The website can also be viewed using earlier versions, but in this case you may not be able to use all of the features available.

3. Subscription services

To receive the latest news and information about recent publications, you can subscribe to our e-mail news service. It is also possible to subscribe to several RSS feeds. The most important news services can be found under the Press releases section.

4. The Impulssi website

The Impulssi website at impulssilvm.fi includes blogs, podcasts and videos on current topics at the Ministry.

The Impulssi blog covers topical issues in transport and communications policy. It generates impulse, serves as a basis for discussion and increases understanding of the goals of transport and communications policy in society. The first blog entry was posted on 2 February 2015.

The Impulssi podcast presents big ideas and gives them room to flourish. The first season of the podcast began in autumn 2017. The first episode was released on 22 November 2017.

The videos on the Impulssi site focus on current themes at the Ministry. The first videos under the Impulssi header were released in April 2019.

The site is part of the LVM.fi service.

It uses the Wordpress.com cloud service platform provided by Automattic Inc.

The site is operated through a US-based service provider. We use the basic functions of the platform, and it provides us with anonymous data about the number of readers, for example. We use this information to further improve our services.

We use Snoobi Analytics to monitor the visits to the Impulssi site. For more information on Snoobi Analytics and cookies on the Impulssi website, see chapters 10 and 11.
