Mia Nykopp to be Director-General of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency as of 1.1.2018

On 30 November 2017, the Government appointed Mia Nykopp as Director-General of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency, Trafi. She holds the degree of Master of Laws with court training. Her one-year term in office will start on 1 January 2018.

Ms Nykopp is currently working as Director-General of Transport System and Development at Trafi. She has held management and expert positions in Trafi and its predecessor organisation, Vehicle Administration, since 2001.

The current Director-General of Trafi, Kari Wihlman, will take up the post of Director-General of the Finnish Transport Agency from the beginning of 2018.

Trafi is an administration and safety authority responsible for transport system regulation and supervision duties. It promotes transport safety and the sustainable development of the transport system, and provides administrative services in the transport sector. Trafi has approximately 550 employees.
