Mikael Nyberg appointed Ministry's High-Level Representative for transport and communications policy

Senior Government Adviser Mikael Nyberg has been assigned to a new position in the Ministry of Transport and Communications. As of 1 October 2018, he will act as the High-Level Representative for transport and communications policy.

Mr Nyberg has served as Director-General of the Ministry's Networks Department since 2016.  In his new position, he will act as High-Level Representative for transport and communications policy during Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2019 as well as during preparations for the period.  For the duration of the assignment, from 1 October 2018 to 29 February 2020, he will be on leave of absence from his position as Director-General.

In matters of transport and communications, Mr Nyberg will represent Finland in cooperation between high-level officials of European Union Member States as well as in the Council, Parliament, Commission and other bodies of the Union. He will be in contact with the Ministries of Member States and will be responsible for marketing Finland's Presidency agenda for them already before the Presidency period.

During Finland's Presidency, he will also chair Finland's delegations of public officials in the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO, International Maritime Organisation, IMO, World Radiocommunication Conferences, WRC, and other international organisations in the transport and communications sector. He will also be responsible for coordinating the process of adopting positions by the European Union in the field of transport and communications.
