The Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will hold an informal video meeting of transport ministers on 4 June and a video meeting of telecommunications ministers on 5 June. Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka will represent Finland in the meetings. No formal decisions will be made.

The transport ministers will discuss the sustainability and digital aspects of the recovery within the transport sector. The objective of the European Commission is to combat climate change and promote digitalisation side by side. On 27 May, the Commission published a recovery plan with the aim of accelerating the green transition and digital change.

The telecommunications ministers will discuss the EU's priorities for the digital sector in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak. Attention will also be given to the introduction of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, communications and data. The Commission will also provide an update on the development of contact tracing and warning apps.

The incoming German Presidency of the Council of the European Union will inform the ministers of its work programme. Germany will assume the Presidency on 1 July 2020.
