Minister Lindén to visit India

Ms Suvi Lindén, Finland's Minister of Communications, will visit India on 18-22 January for the purposes of promoting exports.

In India, Ms Lindén will visit Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai. She will be accompanied by a business delegation of around twenty business directors representing information and communications technology enterprises. The programme of the visit will focus on ICT and electronic media.

The aim of the visit is to promote cooperation between India and Finland in the information security sector and to promote the networking of Finnish enterprises in India. The visit agenda includes discussions about best practices in cooperation between the authorities and an introduction to the present and future of India's communications markets.

Ms Lindén will meet Communications Minister A. Raja in Delhi and Prime Minister of the Regional Government of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan in Mumbai.

In Chennai, Ms Lindén will inaugurate a factory jointly owned by the Finnish Alteams Group and the Indian Ashok Leyland Group. The joint venture manufactures high pressure die casting aluminium products for the telecommunications sector, for example.

In Mumbai, Ms Lindén will address an international conference, Global Economic Summit on Trade and Investment Opportunities.
