Sweden is to once again allow the prior maximum weight limits for lorries travelling internationally. The Swedish government made a decision on the matter during its session on Thursday 16 August. According to information provided by the Swedish ministry, the statutes will enter into force on 4 September.

Therefore, Finnish lorries will continue to be able to travel in Sweden with semi-trailer combinations weighing 48 tonnes and full trailer combinations and module combination trailers weighing 60 tonnes, as these are all permitted in both countries.

At the beginning of August, Sweden turned away lorries that were in international transport and had a mass of over 40 tonnes at its border with Denmark. The stricter weight limit was applied due to problems in how to interpret the EU Directive on internal transport in the context of Swedish executive acts.
